Selector - Criteria - Structural dialog

Used to select structural elements inside master or referenced files. This tool's settings filter through structural elements' basic characteristics like type, shape and justification. Use the DataGroup criteria type for more detailed selection.

SettingDescription
Structural Geometry Determines the criteria pertaining to physical geometry of a structural element.
  • Section — Displays structural section keyed in or the one selected from the Structural Sections dialog by clicking Select .
  • Rotation — Accepts the angle of rotation up to 360. The positive value rotates the element in clockwise direction and negative in counterclockwise about the member centroid.
  • Mirror — Sets the flip effect of flanges on or off.
  • Placement point — Defines the location of the baseline relative to the member section by clicking on the icon to select one from the pop-up menu options. There are nine physical placement points and one theoretical centroid available.

    • Bottom Center
    • Bottom Right
    • Center Left
    • Center Center
    • Center Right
    • Top Left
    • Top Center
    • Top Right
    • Centroid
Structural Data Picks the structural data associated with the structural element in the selection criteria
  • Fillet — Turns fillet on or off. Applicable when the wide flange section properties include the radius.
  • Mark — Defines the part prefix as an identification mark; e.g.
    • B-1 — for Beams
    • C-1 — for Columns
    • P-1 — for Purlins, etc.
  • Type — Specifies the type property of structural component; e.g.
    • Beam — for Beams
    • Column — for Columns
    • Handrail — for Handrails, etc.
  • Material — Defines the standard material of the structural component; e.g. Steel, Timber, Concrete, etc.
  • Grade — Defines the grade as material specifications standards; e.g. A36, A50 — for Steel, 4000psi, 5000psi — for Concrete, etc.
  • Status — Defines the part position; usually New, or Old.
  • Class — Defines the part order; e.g. Primary, Secondary, Framing, etc.
  • User1 .. User4 — Sets the user defined variables 1 to 4.
  • End1/End2 Action — Defines the end 1 / end 2 action for the structural component, e.g. 12.0 K / 14.0 K
  • End1/End2 Detail — Defines the end 1 / end 2 detail for the structural component, e.g. Type 1/ Type II.
Cope / Trim Info Determines the selection of cope and trimming property settings in the selection criteria.
  • Cope/Trim — Sets the filter to select either one of the options.
    • Member has at least one feature
    • Member has no feature
  • Web Clearance — Defines the value of the clearance space between structural member webs in coping.
  • Flange Clearance — Defines the value of the clearance space between structural member flanges in coping.
  • Inside Corner Treatment — Sets the inside corner treatment, by clicking on the icon to select one from the pop-up menu options: squared off, rounded radius, or squared off corner with notch.
  • Inside Corner Radius — Defines the value of the radius of the inside corner treatment.
